How it is built
Every run of identical columns in Stem 7 Regular collapses to one, so O narrows from five cells to three and M from seven to five while stems and bars keep their weight.
Collapsing breaks some things a rule can't fix, so they are drawn by hand: all ten figures sit on one 4-cell box so columns of numbers line up, the dashes step 2, 3 and 5 cells, and l and [ are kept apart from L and C.
One cell is the font size divided by eight, so at 16, 32, 48, 72 and 120 px every edge lands on a whole pixel. The tester and the waterfall only offer those sizes.
- NodeAn on-curve point at (1200, 0). 12 in this glyph.
- Cell300 units, an eighth of the em: 2 px at 16, 15 px at 120, never a fraction.
- Advance1800 units wide: 0 of space on the left, 300 on the right.
- Collapsed runM collapses to five cells from Regular's seven; stems and bars keep their weight.
How it fits
- UnkernedThe second letter where its advance width alone would put it: hairline.
- KernedThe pair as the font sets it, pulled in by the value under it, in units of a 2400-unit em.
